This article is updated to address the difference in the way the code is interpreted by the different browsers, namely Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. We have also included a sample music file which you can use to test the effects of adding the sound file to your Blog. As well, read our article on Flash Music Player and Music Playlists to add a playlist of several musical pieces or songs.

Depending on the subject matter of your blog, having music played in the background may either enhance the pleasure of reading or annoy your visitor. Imagine the agony of surfing the web in discreet, only to catch the attention of your office colleagues or parents when the music automatically blasts off in the background. Not to mention, a big music file may cause a slower page download. Nevertheless, the solution, as shall be explained later, is simple - have an option for the reader to play or stop the music.
To begin, you will need to have a music file uploaded onto a server. You can read about using free hosts like Google Page Creator and Google Groups. We have also a rather comprehensive list of free Image Hosts and File Hosting Services in our article on Manage Blogger Image Storage Space. Check out those sites and choose one that is fast, reliable and enables hotlinking to the uploaded files. Upon uploading, note down the URL of the file.
Alternatively, there are several sites that offer free download of their music files. You can enter search words like “free music download” or search for a popular artist name in the Google search box. Most of the sites that offer free download will lead you to the file location stored in their servers. Copy the URL of the music file that you have chosen.

Next, you would have to decide how you want the music to be played.

This is a text link. Your visitor can click the link if he wants to hear the music.
Remember to enter the URL of music file into the above code. This code can be inserted into your Blog post. If you want to put it in your sidebar, you can go to Template -> Page Elements -> Add a Page Element, select HTML/JavaScript and insert the code. Whatever words you type into the “Click to hear music file” will appear as the text link.
Music with a console
A music player console with controls of the volume, on and off buttons, would give your visitors a choice on how he wants the music played. With the code stated below, the music will not play unless the visitor clicks the play button.
You can either insert the music console into your Blog post or your sidebar. If you want it in the sidebar, go to Template -> Page Elements -> Add a Page Element, select HTML/JavaScript.

It will look different in IE and Firefox, depending on the installed plugins.
Note the following attributes and how they work on different browsers:-
1. Insert your URL of music file into the code.
2. The width of the example you see above is "300". If you want it to be embedded neatly into your sidebar, the width should not be greater than the sidebar width. For example, if your sidebar width is 150px, the width of your console should be about 140px.
3. The height would depend on your preference and space constraints.
4. The autostart attribute has two options. If you choose "true", the music will automatically play when your page is loaded. As I have mentioned earlier, this is not a good option unless you are absolutely sure all your visitors would not mind the music. The better option is to state it as "false". If the visitor wishes to hear the music, he can click the play button to start the music.
Note, however, that while it works fine in Internet Explorer, it may not be so in Mozilla Firefox. The default setting for IE is "false" which means the music will not play automatically. The default setting for Firefox is "true", and when we experimented with .wma and .wav files, they automatically played even when we set the autostart to "false". If you are working on the Mac, the default setting for both browsers is "false".
5. The loop attribute indicates whether the music should stop once that particular tune ends. The common attributes are "false" or "true". If the attribute is "false", the music ends after it is played once. If it is "true", the music will automatically loop and continue playing until the visitor clicks the stop button or leaves your site. For short music pieces, you may want it to repeat and choose "true".
For certain versions of Netscape browsers, another attribute that might work is loop="n" where n is a number. If n is 2 for example, the music will play twice and stop. The similar attribute in Internet Explorer is playcount.
6. You can specify the number of times the music is to be played. In the above example, where playcount="2", the same piece of music is played twice before it stops. If you want the music to be played once, you can delete playcount altogether. Note that this only works in Internet Explorer.
Background music to play automatically
For the music to play the moment your page is loaded, the code will have to appear in the HTML document of your site. Note that in so doing, there are no controls for the visitor to choose whether or not to listen to the music, nor options to turn it off. Login to your Dashboard and under “Template”, click “Edit HTML”. Somewhere near the top, after the word , insert this code:-

Remember to insert the URL of music file into the code. There is no image of a console and readers cannot choose to turn off the music. Use this option with discretion.
Troubleshooting
The sound files can be in any format provided that your browser has the necessary plugin to play that file. Many people have problems playing MP3 files because their Firefox browsers do not have the necessary plugins. To check what your Firefox browser can support, enter this command into your browser:-

It will list all the installed plugins and the media files that can be played. If you need additional Mozilla Firefox add-ons, you can visit their Add-ons Page.

The Codex Process
The codex approach introduced in Getting Started in FOREX Trading Strategies
attempts to meld the three elements into a trading process. Changes to one element, such as trading technique, will reverberate to the other elements. Instead of looking at the elements individually, a personal trading codex folds them into a process beginning with finding good trading candidates and concluding with a short postmortem of each completed trade. An analysis of each completed trade allows the trader to adjust his trading codex in an evolutionary, rather than revolutionary, manner. The specific codex method I use is named FxCodex in this book. Codex refers generally to the process method of trading; FxCodex refers to the specific elements I use to trade currencies as a process.

Traditional Strategies For Forex Traders
To most traders, strategy is synonymous with trading techniques—one or more of
the many flavors of price charts or indicators such as oscillators and moving averages.
In GSIFTS, strategy refers to the three primary elements that define a trader:
trading techniques, money management, and the soft elements of market selection,

A traditional trading strategy includes a charting technique such as point
and figure or candlestick charts, a number of technical indicators, and perhaps
a few other tools the trader has found useful in previous trading. Money management
is typically an ad hoc set of rules for limiting losses, maximizing gains,
and entering and exiting a trade. Most traditional strategies rarely consider
style, or soft elements, in any depth.
Traditional strategies represent a linear approach to trading. Each strategic
element is separate from the other. The elements don’t communicate very
well, if at all, with each other. The codex approach, introduced herein, applies a
process paradigm to the elements and to trading.
There is nothing inherently wrong with traditional strategies and the elements
approach. Some traders are very successful with them. A plethora of
print and online material currently exists for the traditional trader. But let’s
look at the facts. The FOREX market is not unlike other highly leveraged markets,
such as options or futures. The statistics are not pretty; nearly 90 percent
of new traders lose their initial account deposit in less than six months—most
of them using traditional strategies.
I recently attended a FOREX convention in Las Vegas. I observed someone
lecturing on chart support and resistance points. Useful information, to be
sure, but probably not in the way the lecturer intended. The vast majority of
traditional currency traders will be looking for the same or nearly the same support
and resistance points. The market never cooperates with the majority; if it
did, everyone would be a winner and it would soon cease to exist. To the codex
trader, the traditional support and resistance points are useful only to see what
other traders are thinking. The codex trader will seek to find the market’s true
stopping and turning points.

There are at least 5 simple and basic principles that determine one’s fate in becoming a better forex trader. These principles may seem simple, but they are essential keys to unlocking the door toward becoming a millionaire, or at least gaining a little more than losing.
Forex Psychology Principle #1
The first and most significant principle is trading with a regimented plan and system. Many traders do not realize that trading is more complex than how it seems. It should not be driven by merely a hunch or gut feels. A good trader is always ready with a feasible plan. This plan should include sophisticated research and examination of the currencies as well as stop and limit levels of the trade. This prepared plan should have an analysis of the expected upside along with the downside.

The next principle is cutting your losses at an early stage and being loyal to your profit earners. Some traders want to believe that their losses might still do well after a good waiting time. More often, in reality, the market moves against these non-profitable positions and make them lose hundred of points, thus, not recovering enough to sustain even if they do rise again. Do not be caught in the belief that every trade should be profitable. If half the number of your trades are earning, you are on the right track. The key to making sure you still get enough even if only half of your trades are winners is to allow your winners to run and to minimize your losses.

Another principle is playing smart—do not let your emotions rule in trading. Always be objective with your decisions. The old saying goes “never marry your trades”. If the substantial signs are there, reconsider your losing position.

Understanding FOREX Currency Pairs
There are five major FOREX currency pairs that are traded on the FOREX market, and they account for about 85% of all daily transactions. These FOREX currency pairs are: Euro against US dollar, US dollar against Japanese yen, British pound against US dollar, US dollar against Swiss franc, and US dollar against Canadian dollar. The FOREX currency pairs appear on the market in this form: EUR/USD, USD/JPY, GBP/USD, USD/CHF, and USD/CAD.
The key to understanding FOREX quotes is to remember that the currency listed first is the base currency and that the value of the base currency is always 1. So, a quote of EUR / USD 1.35 means that one 1 Euro is equal to 1.35 U.S. dollars. If the number increases, the value of the Euro is increasing while the U.S. dollar is decreasing, and if the number decreases then the Euro is weakening and the U.S. dollar is gaining strength.
The US dollar is normally considered the 'base' currency for quotes in the FOREX market, though there are exceptions, such as the GBP/US, where the British pound is the base currency. This also occurs with the Euro, and with the Australian Dollar. Of course, there are other currencies on the market than the major five. You may come across them being called cross currency pairs. These are simply FOREX currency pairs that do not involve the U.S. dollar. For example, EUR / JPY at 128.55 means 1 Euro is equal to 128.55 Japanese yen.
